Phil is a graduate student at the University of Toronto and is in the cognitive psychology stream. He is involved in several research projects at U of T, focusing on cognitive neuroscience and psychophysiology. He co-led a project in the lab with Alexa Volkov which integrates psychophysiology with the study of psychological embodiment. Beyond this, Phil is interested in multi-sensory phenomena including synesthesia, multi-sensory integration, and cross-modal correspondences, as well as theoretical issues at the intersection of perception and cognition.

Joanna is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences (QMSS) at Columbia University. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto, where she studied Statistics, Mathematics, and Psychology. Her broad goal is to use advanced statistical methods to address real-world problems. A recent example of this is her research utilizing dynamic factor analysis to understand how consumer attitudes and behaviours change following different types of current events. She hopes to extend this approach in both her graduate work and her future career.

Eileen is currently pursuing a PhD in social psychology at Northwestern University in her first year. She graduated from University of Toronto in 2018 in Psychology and Statistics. She is interested in the intersections of motivated social cognition, interpersonal relationships and cultural psychology.

Julia graduated from the University of Toronto in 2019 with an Honours Bachelor of Science. She studied in the psychology specialist and French minor programs. During her time in the Mind and Body Lab, Julia was a project leader on a study the explored possible connections between physical experiences and cultural views. Julia is currently pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) degree at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law.

Octavia is currently a PhD student in the University of Toronto's Physiology Department. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto as a Neuroscience Specialist with a Psychology Major. She is passionate about psychology because it provides a more comprehensive and objective insight to our world. She is particularly interested in the link lies underneath our unconscious brain and daily behaviours.

Alexa graduated from UofT with an Honours Bachelors of Science with High Distinction in Psychology and Linguistics. She focused particularly on the social aspect in both fields, and hopes to pursue further education in social planning and community development in the future. She recently co-led a project in the lab with Phil Johnston which integrates psycho-physiology with the study of psychological embodiment.

Kathleen completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto in 2020, and is currently a research professional at the economic consulting firm, Analysis Group.

Jing joined the marketing department at the University of Guelph in 2019. She was previously an Assistant Professor at the University of Groningen, after obtaining her PhD from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. Her research interests encompass two broad themes: 1) consumers’ morality, and 2) money and time. She examines how consumers’ moral judgments and behaviors can be influenced by what they choose to give and what they choose to consume; she is currently extending this line of research towards encouraging sustainable consumption practices. She also investigates the psychological meanings attributed to money and time, based on the manner in which consumers typically use these two resources.
